Vanessa Croome is a critically acclaimed soprano and producer signed to Canada's premiere classical label, ATMA Classique. She co-founded Duo Étrange in 2023 with cellist Sahara von Hattenberger — an ensemble dedicated to the creation and performance of new works for voice and cello hailed as “redefining vocal chamber music” (PANM 360) and winners of the 2025 New Music USA Creator Fund. On the operatic stage, Croome is known for her work in classical and contemporary works, with credits spanning world premieres to core repertoire. Recent and upcoming projects include the world premiere of Les dévots (Espace Libre), Die Zauberflöte (Jacksonville Symphony, Opéra de Montréal), M. Butterfly (Santa Fe Opera), and Shelter (Bang On A Can — Loud Weekend).

Duo Étrange's début album I wish I were dead features a collection of new classical works celebrating living artists, including four new commissions for the ensemble supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and Salle Bourgie.
